Day 3, Revisit Sites

I drove to the store on Stanley in Bellmawr.
I took a picture of the network setup.
I connected the new ticket printer to the Airgas network.
I walked to the plant on Harding.
I drove to Bensalem.
I placed the new ticket printer new the front counter and attached
it to the Airgas Network.
I ran Windows Update on the new computer we had shipped from Salem.
I tried to convert an existing Win2k computer to the new Airgas
software.
I could not uninstall Office 97 because Idid not have an Office 97
CD. (Those Microsoft $@%$^@'s should rot in $%#% for that.)
I exported Shawn's personal email folder from Outlook to a CSV file.
I imported said file into Office 2003 Outlook on the new computer.
It worked!
I tried setting up a user on the existing BOC computer.
I could log in but could not see the internet.
I could run KEA and see the Airgas CU susyem.
KEA gave me several diagnostics, mostly complaining about missing
fonts.
I changed the Option.View settings from auto to 6.
I then changed them back.
I exited and saved the changes to session1.
I restarted KEA and only got 1 complaint: Something about OLE being
unhappy.
It appears that our "Session1" file which we infilcit on our users
tries to use the "Arial Terminal" font which is only present on XP.
Bensalem has 2 machines which can run CU.
KFC for lunch
I drove to Horsham.
I moved the new ticket printer to a stand near the front counter.
I put KEA on a BOC computer and did the font dance again.
Fran placed an order on the new computer.
It printed 12 inches of output on our 11 inch forms.
A call to Richard set me straight: a blinking light on the printer
should not be blinking. Pressing the middle of seven buttons on
the
print caused the light to go on solid beside the word "DEC". This
apparently tells the print to handle DEC escape sequences. We
printer
the ticket again and it looked perfect. Some of the print was
compressed.
The guys in Horsham were estatic to be using CU again. The BOC
SAP system had been their worst nightmare.
Horsham has 2 machines which can run CU.
On to King of Prussia.
I put KEA on 2 computers.
We placed the new ticket printer near the front counter. We could
not place it in the counter as a slot for the paper needs to be cut.
We used CU to print a screen to the printer.
The guys in King of Prussia say CU is adequate and SAP creates an oral
vacuum.
King of Prussia has 3 machines which can run CU.
Hmm, Friday afternoon at 4:30. A bad time to head for Jersey
and it's promised shore.
I was told there was no good way to get back to Deptford at that time
of day.
So, I resigned my self to a long plod.
I drove through Gulph Mills on Old Gulph Rd.
The next thing I know, I'm passing Bryn Mawr College.
I was then dumped onto Route 30 which headed SouthEast.
I entered Philadelphia where I somehow got off of 30 and on to 43rd
st.
I saw several boarded up buildings.
I came upon Drexel University and the neighborhood improved.
Then I passed U Penn.
Finally I found 76 and crawled over the Walt Whitman Bridge.
After returning to the hotel I walked to Boston Market and admired
the gridlock near the hotel.
